Born in Brooklyn and raised outside the city, Ilana moved to Boston in 2002 to study at Northeastern University, while in Boston Ilana began to develop her love of yoga and explore her personal practice. She began her study of yoga with My First Yoga in Newton, Massachusetts. There she developed the unique skills to teach yoga to children ages 1- 13, she brings both a quirky and creative energy to her youth yoga classes. In Boston she taught in both school settings and afterschool programs.
After finding joy in teaching, Ilana traveled to Santa Barbra to study with Tracey Rich and Ganga White at the White Lotus Foundation. There she deepened her personal yoga practice and furthered her yoga studies by focusing on teaching Hatha yoga to adults. At White Lotus she completed the 200-hour Hatha teacher training.
Ilana is a RYT-200 yoga teacher, registered with the Yoga Alliance. In 2007, Ilana moved to Brooklyn. Since moving to Brooklyn she has taught both group classes and privately.
The most important purpose of Yoga is to bring about a deep transformation of the individual—an awakening of intelligence that is free of dependancies and romanitic beliefs and ready to meet the accelerating challenges of the 21st century.
